Firmware and OS updates are an integral part of improving your GNARBOX experience, both in terms of stability and to get the new and latest features.

Please note - iOS users can update their firmware and OS over WiFi or cellular data.  Android devices are not able to connect to WiFi and cellular data simultaneously, so Android users need to update using WiFi only.

When an update is available, you'll see a popup in the app indicating that you have a new update. Tap Update, and you'll be taken to the Updates screen, which will give you detailed release notes regarding your current version as well as the update.

Next, tap the green Install Update button. You will be given a list of requirements in order to proceed with the update. One all three checkmarks are green, you can tap Begin Update.

You will get a popup asking you to make sure that your files are backed up. We strongly encourage you to perform a backup before installing any software updates.

After selecting Update Now, a window will popup giving you the option to Download with WiFi. Any updates over 100MB require WiFi to update, while those that are under will allow you to choose between downloading over cellular data or WiFi (iOS users only - Android must download with WiFi).

You'll be showing a list of available WiFi networks - select the network you'd like to download over and enter the network password. Hit Return, then Connect to Network.

Once you are connected to WiFi, GNARBOX will initiate the download - you can view the progress bar as it downloads. Once the download finishes, GNARBOX will begin the installation. You'll notice that the LEDs on the GNARBOX will start to flash different colors.

Once the update finishes installing, you'll be taken back to the Home screen, which means the update is complete!
